a stylish design

I got referred to one of the most talented ladies and her name is Amy; she created A Stylish Design. She chooses the most beautiful patterns to sew clutches, neckerchiefs, and kimonos! We shot some lifestyle ideas for styling her gorgeous products downtown and in the studio I work at Zurie Coworking. I had worked with Andrea before on a bridal shoot and she was so perfect for product shooting as well. She even brought some of her own everyday pieces to style with Amy's line. It all went together so easily. I think the pieces are all patterns that you can mix into your own style too!

finding light: When your sessions end up indoors

I used to freak out (a lot) anytime I had a client request an indoor session. Let alone having an outdoor session turn into an indoor session last minute. But I don't feel that way at all anymore. I actually really love indoor sessions. They don't have to look "dark" or "moody" because I don't understand artificial light. Once you learn some lighting basics, you can have light & clean indoor style too.

I have one flash on my camera and another off camera flash. Depending on where the natural light is I'll position around the family. I also try to block out the artificial lighting in the room. I think it's practicing too. Once you get your lights, just practice at home in all kinds of rooms. You'll find your style too!

Why In Home Sessions are so special

It's obvious to those who have had an in home session why they matter so much. But for those who have never tried one, it may sound silly. Why would you want to hang photos in your home of you at your home? I'm going to explain: For one, you act the most natural. I get the best lifestyle stuff of people just living in their own homes. The most natural laughs, most natural smiles, most genuine cuddles. I think this is true even mores for kids. They love showing me their room, and they are so proud of showing me their flips and twirls to their own music at home. Number two-- you aren't going to just print photos for your home. You will certainly send them to close friends and family and like I said there is nothing more natural that they love to see. Third, your home can change. I love that even if I move or I rearrange the rooms it's forever captured like it is when they are tiny, or before the kids came to destroy it. And lastly, you'll get tons of photos with no mess in it. Usually people are scared people will judge their home. But no-one ever does. We all have that messy corner with clothes stacked up. Parents have toys exploding from that closet. Capturing no mess to send out on a card can totally happen--- and capturing the lovely messy parts are great memories I promise!
